What is Charleston by Design?
Charleston by Design is an annual fundraising event over a span of four days that is dedicated to supporting the mission work of Historic Charleston Foundation. The programming honors the blend of preservation and design, drawing inspiration from the past to inform contemporary creations. The event features a diverse array of designers, artists, architects, and preservationists, all united in their respect for the preservation of Charleston's historic architecture and interior design. Proceeds from the Charleston by Design weekend directly benefit Historic Charleston Foundation, supporting the people and resources essential to its mission-driven work.

Charleston by Design events are held at the following venues. Some venues are not listed here as they will only be shared with event ticket holders. How will I receive my admission ticket(s)?
Upon the completion of a successfully placed online order, you will receive an email confirmation of your purchase(s). Please ensure your email address was typed correctly so that you receive your confirmation. Sometimes, confirmations may go to junk or spam folders, so please check in those folders if confirmations are not in your inbox. Your email confirmation is your ticket to each event and may be presented on your cell device or in print. Guests will be checked in by name at each event. One exception - Insider Passholders may pick up their passholder badge at the Opening Night Party. Questions? Email ticketoffice@historiccharleston.org.

Is the event family-friendly?
Charleston by Design events and tours are appropriate for adults aged 21+. Families are welcome to enjoy lectures and talks. Please note we offer one ticket price for all aged guests.

How can I get involved as a volunteer?
Volunteers are always welcome! Interested individuals can sign up through the Historic Charleston Foundation website! Indicate your interest in volunteering here.

Is photography allowed? Media inquiries?
Cell phone memories are encouraged, but we ask you not to use a flash. According to SC law, photography in private homes is prohibited. The use of professional DSLR photography and media requests must be submitted to and approved by Historic Charleston Foundation staff prior to events. Submit inquiries to info@historiccharleston.org.
